Abstract

According to technics results obtained during three consecu tive years in an extensive cattle farm with 79 Retinta cows, which is sited in the province of Cáceres (Spain), the cost of feed suplementation of the standard cow depending of the month of parturition and the net yield per calf produced depending of the month of birth, have been calculated and compared by means of index. Calculations were made either in an own farm or in a rent one. The best economic results are obtained with parturitions in Octo ber, November, December and January. That is why we recommend to concéntrate the parturitions in autumn and beginning'of winter, in extensive cattle farms in Spanish dehesa (pasture).
